Short biography
Yuliya Schreib is an author who grew up in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, where she first went on pilgrimage as a child. She has since made her home in several countries, taught primary school for fifteen years, and raised two sons. The Camino de Santiago and the Via Francigena are among the many pilgrimages she has completed.
Her Guru, Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda, holds a central place in her spiritual life. She enjoys painting, traveling, and cooking, and loves gathering with like-minded people to share kirtan.
Book description
With her sons at university and her teaching career behind her, Yuliya Schreib returns to the Via Francigena, an ancient pilgrimage route from Canterbury to Rome. Across 2,200 kilometers and ninety walking days, she travels through England, France, Switzerland, and Italy. Alongside aching feet, encounters with strangers, and the daily search for somewhere to sleep, there is another search: for God, for understanding, and for a life shaped by devotion. Beneath Heaven, All Kilometers Turn Inward is a personal account of walking alone, learning to trust, and finding room for prayer and reflection in the ordinary events of each day.
